See Bayt in action

Under a minute on a TV: Home, the colours, the Quran, Ramadan, the adhan and the children's street.

  1. Home, with a moving background
  2. Eight colour themes, each in dark and light
  3. The Quran recited, the verse and its translation following along
  4. The Mushaf page, the recited verse marked
  5. Ramadan: a lantern for each day, the Quran first
  6. The adhan alert at prayer time, over whatever is on
  7. The mosque display with today's prayer times
  8. The children's street: a lantern for every surah learnt

When Ramadan comes, everything changes

Bayt knows the month and changes by itself. Home shows the month's verses and a hadith on Ramadan for each day. Its page strings thirty lanterns across the screen, one lit for each day.

  • One, two or three khatmas in what is left of the month
  • Good deeds for today, each with its hadith
  • In the last ten nights: reminders with each prayer and before Fajr
  • Odd nights marked, with the dua of the Night of Decree

The Quran, the way you like to hear and read it

Choose from more than 50 reciters. The verse and its translation follow the recitation. Read the Mushaf as the printed page or as text, with tajweed colours if you want them.

  • Search the Quran by any word, with an Arabic keyboard on screen
  • Tafsir and word meanings beside the verse
  • Bookmarks and a daily goal
  • Save a reciter to listen with no internet
  • Favourite reciters, each with his own card

Memorize together, and finish the Quran again

Everyone in the family adds themselves and sets their own goal. Listen, repeat, test yourself, and review what you know. The khatma keeps your place and your pace.

  • Up to five people, each with their own progress and reciter
  • Verse by verse, with reviews spaced over the days
  • A khatma plan from 7 to 90 days
  • A reminder on Home when review is due

The day runs on the prayers

Bayt works out the times on the TV for your city and your method, with the next prayer counting down on Home. With the TV's permission, a banner appears at prayer time over whatever is playing. When the TV rests, its screensaver looks like a mosque's display.

  • The adhan in the voice you choose, or silence
  • Your own minutes for each prayer, to come close to your mosque
  • Hijri date and special days: Arafah, Ashura, the white days
  • Weather for your city

Azkar, hadith and duas for every day

Morning, evening and sleep azkar are counted one by one, and Home changes them with the hour. The six books of hadith are there to read in Arabic, with an explained collection in English and German.

  • Duas that say when to say them
  • A hadith and a verse each day
  • The Names of Allah
  • Blessings on the Prophet, peace be upon him, in a strip along the top
  • Stories from the Quran and the Sunnah, told only in their sources' own words

A street of lanterns for each child

Each child has a street with a lantern for each surah, from Al-Faatiha through Juz' 'Amma. Short lessons in three rounds light it: learn, practise, by heart. There are no timers and no lost streaks, and no drawn people or animals.

  • A grid for parents: what to listen to, what to review, what comes next
  • Children's duas: when to say them and what they mean
  • Stories from the Quran, like a comic book: each verse, then a simple explanation
  • Kids mode with a PIN, a daily time and a bedtime
  • Up to ten children

Quran radio and lessons, live

Quran radio stations and lessons from the broadcasters' own streams, and live Makkah and Madinah. Tiles appear only while your TV is online.

  • A sleep timer for the end of the night
  • Keeps playing when you go back to Home

Set it up your way

The first start asks your language and which features you want. Everything can be changed later, and every feature has its own switch.

  • Hold OK on any card to arrange Home, like on a phone: hide what you don't need, bring it back any time
  • Dark, light, or automatic from sunrise to Maghrib
  • Text size for the screen and for the Quran
  • Your installed apps in a row of their own
  • Arabic runs right to left through the whole screen

Eight colours, light or dark

Choose the colour that suits your home. The whole system follows it, in a light or a dark look.

  • Bayt green, Kiswah, Madinah night, Red Sea
  • Olive grove, Desert sand, Damask rose, Fajr
  • Light, dark, or automatic: light from sunrise, dark from Maghrib

A background of your own

Put a picture or a moving video behind Home, and give the prayer card a picture of its own.

  • Mosques, Makkah and Madinah: one picture, or changing by itself
  • Moving backgrounds from Bayt: rain on glass, cherry blossoms, clouds, the sea at sunset
  • The prayer card's picture is chosen apart from Home's

What Bayt won't do

It won't sell you anything
Bayt is a waqf, given for free. It has no ads, no subscription and no account.
It won't watch you
No analytics and no tracking. It uses the internet only for the feature you are using.
It won't slow you down
Home opens in about half a second on the TV we test with.
It won't change what you can't change back
No root. On Fire TV, apps are switched off and never removed, and "Undo all" brings them back.

Questions

Is Bayt really free?

Yes. Bayt is a waqf: never sold, with no ads, no subscription and no account.

Which TVs can run it?

Fire TV, and any TV or box with Android TV or Google TV (Android 8 or newer). For LG and Samsung TVs, which don't run Android, Bayt is coming soon.

Does it come with TV channels or apps?

No. Bayt brings Quran radio, lessons, and live Makkah and Madinah. Your own apps stay yours, and Bayt shows the ones you have installed.

Does it remove anything from my TV?

No. Nothing is uninstalled. With the computer installer you can switch off Fire TV apps you don't use, after seeing the list, and "Undo all" brings them back.

Does it work without internet?

Prayer times, the Quran text, azkar and hadith work offline. Streamed recitation, the children's lesson audio and radio need the internet; a saved reciter doesn't.

Where do the Islamic texts come from?

The Quran text is the King Fahd Complex's. Translations, hadith and explanations come from named publishers and scholars, listed in full on the Sources page and in Bayt's settings.

Does Bayt collect anything about us?

No. It has no analytics and no tracking, and uses the internet only for the feature you are using. Read the privacy page for each connection.

Is it safe for children?

Kids mode has a PIN, a daily time and a bedtime. The children's world has no drawn people or animals, no music, and no way to lose what they have earned.
