Bayt collects nothing. It has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no Google services, and it sends nothing about you, your TV or your use of it to its makers. It is free, a waqf, and has no server of its own.
What stays on the TV
Your settings, the place you chose for prayer times and weather, reading and listening positions, bookmarks, the khatma, memorization records and the children's progress stay in Bayt's own storage on the TV. Uninstalling Bayt deletes them. Prayer times are calculated on the TV. The city list is built in.
When Bayt uses the internet
Only for the feature you are using. Every server named here sees your internet address, as any website does, and nothing else about you unless the table says so.
| What you use | Server | What it receives besides your address |
|---|---|---|
| Weather on Home | api.met.no (Norwegian Meteorological Institute) | The chosen place's coordinates, rounded |
| Check for updates | api.github.com, then github.com for a download you confirm | Nothing |
| Recitations and read-along | cdn.islamic.network, cdn.mp3quran.net, storage.cms.itqan.dev | Which recitation is played |
| Quran radio and lessons | The broadcasters' own streams: radioplus.sba.sa, radiosunna.radioca.st and the other stations in Settings › Sources | Which station is played |
| Live TV channels | The broadcasters' own streams (for example aloula.faulio.com, live.kwikmotion.com, service.webvideocore.net) | Which channel is played |
| A news tile that opens YouTube | www.youtube.com, to find the channel's current live video | Which channel |
Apps you open from Bayt (YouTube, Shahid and others) are their own apps with their own privacy terms.
Every feature can be switched off in Settings, and a feature that is off makes no network calls.
Phone remote
Off unless you turn it on, on the Developer page. While it is on, the TV answers only on your home network, only your paired phone, and pairing works only while the pairing screen is open. It uses plain HTTP inside your home network: the pairing token crosses the network once, when you pair, and someone already on your home network could read the traffic. Turn it off if you don't trust the network.
Permissions on Fire TV
The home watcher (an accessibility service) brings Bayt back when Home is pressed. It reads what is in front only to recognise Amazon's home and press Bayt's tile there, and, while the phone remote is on, to put the phone's text into the focused field. It stores and sends none of this.
